A Travel Proposal Form is used by travel insurance companies when travelers want to sign up for their insurance plans for their travels, whether international or domestic. A travel insurance covers medical expenses, flight cancellations and accidents, lost baggage, and other financial losses that may happen during your travel.
Having travel insurance can be useful for frequent travelers, but even those who do not travel too often can find this useful as well. It is only important that you choose the right travel insurance and consider other insurances you may already have so that they do not overlap. Types of Travel Insurance Plans
- Accident Insurance: This provides you and your family insurance in case of accidents or deaths occurring during a flight. The benefits of this insurance apply during an insured flight or during a specific coverage period, but this does not cover accidents happening due to alcohol or drug influence, or other reckless acts.
- Medical Insurance: Your health insurance does not usually cover your medical expenses when you travel abroad. A travel medical insurance is a sort of extension to your health insurance in that it covers medical expenses during medical emergencies occurring during your travels. This does not cover pre-existing medical conditions, or traveling for the purpose of receiving medical treatment.
- Baggage Insurance: This covers the loss of your baggage or any personal belongings during your trip.
- Flight cancellation or interruption: This covers any nonrefundable travel expenses if you have to cancel your trip due to an illness, a death in the family, accident on the way to the airport, terrorism, or any other events listed in the insurance policy. This does not cover flight cancellations due to sudden business conflicts or weather-related issues, among others.

Ways to Purchase Travel Insurance
- You can purchase travel insurance per trip. This is the most common type and is ideal for people who only travel occasionally.
- You can also purchase a travel insurance to cover multiple trips for an entire year, but the limit is that the trip cannot be for more than 30 days.
- For frequent travelers, it would be ideal to purchase an annual coverage, which provides protection for a whole year.
When purchasing travel insurance, it is important to decide what you need so as not to get coverage for areas you already have coverage for, or provide coverage for costs that are refundable anyway. You may also see our Insurance Proposal Forms for more samples and information.
